Music therapy uses music to address non-musical goals, including social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral domains. Offered in group and individual formats, music therapy is individualized to meet each child’s needs. In a typical session, the student may participate in instrument playing, song writing, singing songs, movement to music, turn taking through music, and adaptive instrument play. Similar to speech, physical, or occupational therapy, music therapy sessions incorporate assessment reports, treatment plans (with docmented goals), and progress notes. All music therapy sessions are conducted by Board Certified Music Therapists (with the credential MT-BC).
Music Therapists from the Manchester Community Music School will lead interactive music therapy activities for children as well as opportunities for families to observe and ask questions about the service and program at the Manchester Community Music School.
This workshop welcomes you to bring your child to this hands-on workshop. Get the chance to open the door to music therapy and to learn about all its benefits.
