Connect with Autism News, Resources, & Supports in Nashua, New Hampshire

Hey Everyone,
Please read the info. below about Springboard and give me some of your thoughts about this group. Is Springboard a group that may be of interest to you? Thanks-nze

TILL-NH, Inc. is pleased to introduce an exciting new social opportunity to NH

Springboard is a unique social club model in which members develop social skills and form new relationships. Members learn to plan their own activities, be independent in some recreational activities and form long-lasting connections. It is best suited for young adults ages 18 and over who have the potential for developing recreational interests and social connections, such as individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome, high functioning autism, mental health and emotional issues, learning disabilities and similar areas of need. .

The Groups
Springboard matches adult participants of all ages into groups based on age and interests. Each group is comprised of 10-15 members and is facilitated by an experienced group leader. Groups meet several times per month in various locations throughout Greater Nashua which are convenient to members and Leaders and availability of space.

The Leaders
Group leaders are experienced professionals in the field of learning disabilities, counseling, vocational and residential services. They infuse each group with their passion, creativity and resourcefulness. Group leaders guide members in choosing the group activities, assisting members in their relationships, teach concrete social and independent living skills, and introduce new and exciting activities to the group members which encourage them to be independent and take on leadership roles.

The Activities
Springboard groups participate in a wide array of activities. Some activities are comfortable and familiar while others are new, unique and challenging. Springboard’s goal is for members to develop long lasting social relationships through fun social outings and experiences.

Some examples of Springboard activities include:
• Collegiate and professional sporting events, restaurants, museums, theatre, concerts, cinema, comedy clubs, dances/parties, day trips, overnight trips, vacations, speed dating, and so much more!!

To learn more about TILL Springboard-NH, or to request a membership application, please contact Amanda DeGregoria at (781) 302-4619 or Amanda.degregoria@tillinc.org. We would like to begin a Springboard Club which TILL has run successfully in MA for 19 years, in New Hampshire. Activities for this new social club in NH would be located in and around Greater Nashua and surrounding towns. Staff would be knowledgeable about local resources.

What makes Springboard unique is that it sets expectations on group members to learn new skills and take responsibility for making decisions for planning their own activities. Springboard encourages members to develop social skills through practice and experience as well as responsible behavior in the community while having fun. It is a unique model which has given hundreds of adults new friendships and prevented the isolation and reliance upon family members to be the primary source of activities and social interactions.
We hope you will take an active role in working with Gateways and TILL-NH in bringing this wonderful service to NH
