My daughter Thea is 7 years old and has Down Syndrome along with some heart conditions (had open heart surgery at 2 months old but it did not fix everything, hypothyroidism, corrected eye problems (but still followed by her eye surgeon) and other things that go along with having Down Syndrome like low muscle tone which affects her speech, pencil grasp, etc.

Thea has repetitive behaviors which I always suspected to be part of something else other than her having Down Syndrome. Just this past spring, Boston Children's Hospital confirmed her as being on the Autism Spectrum and having PDD, NOS. After reading a bunch of articles on the subject I'm finding out it is rare (or thought to be rare) for someone to have both Down Syndrome and Autism, and especially since she is a girl this makes it even rarer.
